Build

Engine Bay

Step 1

Push the two posts of the Engine Lamp through the matching holes of the Engine Lamp Base:

In the instructions, it appears that the raised section of the Engine Lamp Base should be facing away from the Engine Lamp. However, it seems to fit better in the next step if we do it this way:

Step 2

Fit the two posts of the Engine Lamp assembly to this matching location on the Engine Bay Back:

Step 3

From the other side, secure the Engine Lamp assembly into place with two (2) AP screws:

Step 4

Retrieve your Engine Bay/Surround assembly from the previous issue. Fit this Engine Bay Back to the open end and secure it into place with four (4) BP screws, as shown:

Step 5

From below on left side, secure the Engine Bay Back in place with one (1) DM screw here.

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Step 6

From below on the right side , further secure the Engine Bay Back in place with one (1) more DM screw here:

Step 7

Fit the Front Body Rear Panel to the forward top edge of the Engine Surround assembly, as shown:

Take note of these two central alignment pegs. Make sure the Front Body Rear Panel is sitting fully down onto them:

From above, it should look like this:

Step 8

Secure the Front Body Rear Panel to the Engine Surround from below with three (3) DM screws:

Step 9

Push the loose end of Cable (82A) into this hole of the Front Body Rear Panel:

Step 10

Retrieve your DeLorean body assembly and make sure all of the roof wiring is clear of the engine bay area:

Step 11

Fit the entire Engine Bay/Surround assembly up into the body from below.

The top edge of the Front Body Rear Panel should be flush with the underside of the roof, as seen below:

Step 12

While holding the Engine Bay/Surround assembly in place, turn the entire body assembly over. Secure the Engine Bay/Surround assembly to the body with three (3) DM screws on the passenger side, as shown:

Step 13

Then, secure the Engine Bay/Surround assembly to the body with three (3) DM screws on the driver side, as shown:

Step 14

Finally, secure the Engine Bay/Surround assembly to the body with two (2) DM screws along the forward edge, as shown:

And that’s it! It is amazing how much better our DeLorean body looks now with some of Doc Brown’s bits installed!

Thoughts

This was one of the better issues of the build. We finished up the engine bay, got it mounted into the car, and I love it!

  1. I stumbled across your page while searching on the mods I got from Mike Lane and Modelmodz for my upcoming build and I have to say your page inspired me to get an airbrush and follow along with a lot of your mod choices. Awesome site with great detail and feedback. Can’t wait to see your build progress and to catch up with my own
