Return to the BUILD
“With this issue you receive the final part of the rail, plus chairs and fixing screws.”
This issue will feel very familiar as we have done all of this before…
Materials: The Rail is metal and the chairs are plastic.
- Drive Time: Model Instructions
- How to Build a Time Machine: Secrets of the DeLorean
- A Time Traveler’s Guide: Robert Zemeckis
Continuing the Rail
Retrieve your Track assembly. Position the Rail onto the base as shown (making sure the Rail and the end of the base are aligned), and use the Rail Chairs and eight (8) EP screws to secure it all down as shown:
It took us 16 issues to get through it all, and a tiny bit at a time, but the Track display is finally finished! For those interested, the final dimensions ended up being 24.5″ (62.2cm) long x 11.75″ (29.8 cm) wide.
While it is impressive to see a nice chunk of 1:8 scale railroad track, I do feel it is all a little too ‘clean’. The rail and ties in 1885 and at Oxford crossing in 1985 would have been old, weathered, and rusted. I did hear the Mike Lane is planning on releasing a Railroad Mod, so keep an eye on that link if you want to really upgrade this Track display to look very realistic!
