Build
Right Exhaust Cowl Vanes & Fitting the Cowl
Step 1
The three vanes are not the same, and are marked 1, 2, and 3. The Top Vane is #1, Middle Vane #2, and Bottom Vane #3:
Step 2A
Fit the Top Vane (124A marked ‘1’) into place inside the Right Reactor Exhaust Cowl at the top, aligning the holes on each side, and secure the left side of the Top Vane into place with two (2) NP screws.
There is a small ledge inside the cowl on either side that these vanes rest upon. Also, as with the left side we already built, I weathered these vanes in advance with my Tamiya Soot powder:
Step 2B
Secure the right side of the Top Vane into place with two (2) NP screws:
Step 3A
Fit the Middle Vane (124B marked ‘2’) into place inside the Right Reactor Exhaust Cowl at the middle, and secure it into place with two (2) NP screws:
Step 3B
Secure the right side of the Middle Vane into place with two (2) NP screws:
Step 4A
Fit the Bottom Vane (124C marked 3) into place inside the Right Reactor Exhaust Cowl at the bottom, and secure it into place with only one (1) NP screw at the front on the left-side.
This vane can rotate out of position, and that is OK. We will secure it in a future issue:
Step 4B
Secure the right side of the Bottom Vane into place with only one (1) NP screw at the front:
Step 5
Fit one end of the Cable into this hole on the right side of the Right Reactor Exhaust Cowl:
Step 6
Retrieve your Reactor Platform. Position this Right Reactor Exhaust Cowl assembly over the left Exhaust Pipe and onto the platform.
There are three mounting posts under this cowl that match three circular raised mounting points on the platform. It should sit down flush:
Step 7
At the front of the Right Reactor Exhaust Cowl, push the three Vent Pipes into these holes, as shown:
Step 8
Carefully turn the platform over and secure the cowl into place with three (3) FP screws:
Step 9
Connect the free end of the Cable to the rear Reactor Platform, as shown:
Step 10
Push one end of the Pipe onto this pin on the Reactor Platform:
Step 11
Feed the other end of the Pipe through this hole at the front of the Right Reactor Exhaust Cowl:
Thoughts
This issue was pretty simple as it was mostly a repeat of the left-side cowl install.
